About Modern Warfare Wiki

How the pages are built

Every factual claim on this site comes from a named source, and the page tells you which one. The primary source is Activision's own material: the Modern Warfare 4 pages on callofduty.com, the official Blog posts that accompanied each reveal, the official Open Beta guides, and the Steam store listing. Where a detail comes from a platform rather than the publisher — the achievement and trophy list, for instance — the page says so. Where a number comes from press coverage rather than an official statement, the page labels it as a reported figure.

That last point matters more than it sounds. Before launch, a lot of Modern Warfare 4 information circulating online is inference dressed up as data. This site does not publish weapon damage or rate-of-fire numbers, because Activision has not released any and the beta builds are not the launch builds. It does not list the names of the eleven launch weapons that have not been announced. It does not describe how a mode plays when only the mode's name has been revealed. When something is unknown, the page says it is unknown, because a wrong answer costs you more time than an honest gap.

Who it is for

People who are already playing and want a straight answer. Modern Warfare 4 unlocks in a specific order — campaign on October 16 for digital pre-orders, DMZ on October 20, the full game on October 23 — so this site is organised around what you can actually do on a given day rather than around a marketing calendar. If you are deciding whether to buy, start with the release date and editions pages. If you have already pre-ordered and you are waiting for the 23rd, start with the campaign and DMZ sections.

Corrections

Call of Duty games change. Patch notes move damage values, seasonal updates add modes, and pre-launch details occasionally shift before release. When a page contradicts what you see in the game, the game is right and the page needs fixing. Email [email protected] with the page and what is wrong, and it will be corrected.

Modern Warfare Wiki is an independent fan resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Activision Publishing, Infinity Ward or any of the studios credited on the game.
