Shipment arrived in Modern Warfare 4 on October 27, 2026. The official layout details, best modes, loadouts and spawn tips for the Russian harbor version.
Modern Warfare 4 Shipment: The Russian Harbor Remake Explained
Shipment is back. Modern Warfare 4 added the map on 27 October 2026 (Eurogamer reported the live rollout), four days after launch, and it is the same small, brutal arena that has appeared in almost every modern Call of Duty. The official map brief calls it a Russian harbor "hemmed in between the water and the concrete panel buildings", with a classic layout and appearance enhanced by Modern Warfare 4's visual and gameplay improvements.
That description answers the two questions players ask most: yes, it is a remake rather than a new map, and yes, it is in the standard 6v6 rotation. This page covers the layout, the modes that suit it, the loadouts that survive it, and the spawn behaviour you need to understand before you queue.
- Released 27 October 2026 - post-launch, not part of the 12 core maps on day one
- 6v6 only - Shipment is a Core map, not a Ground War or Kill Block arena
- Russian harbor setting - water on one side, concrete panel buildings on the other
- Classic layout - the same tight lanes and container cover, remade in the MW4 engine
- No official spawn diagram - the Tac-Map shows objectives, not spawn logic

Official source: the Call of Duty launch maps and modes post confirms Shipment as a post-launch 6v6 map arriving 27 October 2026 and describes the Russian harbor setting and classic layout.
When did Shipment come to Modern Warfare 4?
Shipment arrived on 27 October 2026. The launch blog published on 21 October listed it separately from the 12 Core 6v6 maps, which is why the in-game map count on 23 October did not include it. It was not a pre-order bonus and it did not require a playlist download; it entered the standard rotation.
The timing matters for anyone who bought the game at launch and played the first weekend. The map pool you learned on 23 October was one map smaller than the pool that exists now. If you are returning after a break, Shipment is the main addition to the Core set, and it changes the close-quarters playlist more than any other single map could.
| Date | What changed |
|---|---|
| 23 October 2026 | Launch with 12 Core 6v6 maps |
| 27 October 2026 | Shipment added to the Core rotation |
| 6 November 2026 | Season 1 begins |
What does the Russian harbor version look like?
The official brief is short but specific. Shipment sits on a Russian harbor, with water on one edge and concrete panel buildings forming the urban boundary on the other. The playable space is the cargo yard between them, and the map is "true to form" with a classic layout.
In practice, that means the familiar recipe: a small square arena, shipping containers creating hard cover, a handful of open lanes, and sightlines that rarely run longer than a few dozen metres. The MW4 version adds the engine's lighting and material work, but it does not turn Shipment into a larger map. The water and the panel buildings are scenery and boundary, not new play space.

The official Tac-Map shows the map from above and marks objectives. It does not publish spawn points or safe zones, and those change with the mode anyway.
Which modes play best on Shipment?
Shipment is a close-quarters map, so the modes that reward constant movement and fast respawns work best. Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination and Hardpoint are the natural fit. Search and Destroy is playable but turns the map into a slow, angle-holding exercise that most of the lobby did not queue for.
| Mode | Fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Team Deathmatch | Excellent | Constant respawns, short routes, no objective to anchor |
| Kill Confirmed | Excellent | Dog tags force movement through the same lanes |
| Domination | Good | Three flags create predictable fights, but spawns flip fast |
| Hardpoint | Good | The hill rotates into already-contested space |
| Search and Destroy | Poor | One-life rules slow the map to a crawl |
| Ground War | Not available | Shipment is a 6v6 Core map |
The map also appears in the Pre-Season 1 playlists. Activision's launch post lists the Pre-Season 1 mode set separately, and Shipment is eligible for the Core playlists inside it. If you cannot find it in a specific mode, check whether that playlist is limited to the 12 launch maps.
What loadout works on Shipment?
Shipment rewards the fastest handling you can build, because most fights start inside the range where aim-down-sights speed matters more than recoil control. An SMG with a large magazine is the default answer. The best SMG guide breaks down the three multiplayer SMGs, and the short version is that the PPSh-41's 54-round magazine and the ISO Nightshade's 56-round magazine both let you clear a corner without a reload.
Shotguns are the other classic pick. They remove the need to track a target through the container gaps, and on a map this small the range limitation rarely matters. The trade-off is that a shotgun loses every fight that starts in the open lane, so pair it with a movement perk and avoid the long side of the yard.
- Primary: SMG with extended magazine, or a shotgun for corner clearing
- Secondary: a fast-handling pistol for the reload gap
- Lethal: frag or semtex for container corners
- Tactical: smoke to cross the open lane, or a stun for the central push
- Perks: movement and survivability over stealth; Ghost is less useful on a map with constant UAVs
The best weapons and loadouts page covers the full attachment logic, including why Apex Attachments are a bonus rather than a requirement. Apex Attachments were pulled shortly after launch and are due to return, so do not build a Shipment class around one that is currently unavailable.
How do Shipment spawns work?
Shipment has always been a spawn-trap map, and the remake does not change that. The arena is small enough that the game can flip a spawn in a few seconds, which means the safe corner you just cleared can become the enemy's next spawn point. The practical rule is to keep moving after a kill instead of holding the angle.
Two habits reduce the frustration. First, do not sprint blindly around a container; the map's lanes are short enough that someone is usually pre-aiming the other side. Second, expect a fight from behind after every objective capture, because the spawn logic will try to place the next wave as far from the capture point as the map allows.
A sniper or a slow LMG can work in the open lane, but most of the map is inside SMG range. If your class needs two seconds to aim, you will lose the first fight before it starts.
Is Shipment good for camo grinding?
Yes, and that is why the map has stayed popular. The combination of short routes, frequent respawns and predictable engagement distances makes it efficient for weapon challenges that require kills, headshots or multi-kills. The mastery camo guide explains the challenge structure; Shipment simply gives you more attempts per minute than any other Core map.
The cost is that Shipment is a bad place to learn a new weapon's recoil. You will get kills, but you will not learn how the gun behaves at range. Use Shipment to finish a challenge, then move to a mid-sized map to learn the weapon properly.
How does Shipment compare to the launch maps?
The 12 launch maps are a mix of French rail yards, Korean villages, a Mexican lithium refinery and a New York rooftop complex. Most of them are medium-sized, with power positions and flank routes. Shipment is the outlier: no power position, no flank route worth the name, and no safe lane.
That makes it a useful change of pace rather than a replacement for the core pool. The full maps list covers the launch set and where each one sits on the size spectrum. If you want a small map with a little more structure, Transit 213 is the closest launch equivalent.
FAQ
Is Shipment in Modern Warfare 4?
Yes. It was added on 27 October 2026 as a post-launch 6v6 Core map.
Is Shipment free?
Yes. It is part of the standard map rotation and does not require a separate purchase or pre-order.
What modes can you play on Shipment?
Core 6v6 modes, including Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination and Hardpoint. It is not a Ground War map. The Steam listing confirms that the map ships with the same PC build.
Is the Modern Warfare 4 Shipment layout the same as the old one?
The official brief calls it a classic layout and appearance. The setting is a Russian harbor, and the play space keeps the familiar container-yard structure.
